The dedicated Portlaoise St. Patrick’s Day committee are currently busy planning a great days entertainment on the streets of Portlaoise for all the family. The parade and festival will start at The St Patrick’s Day Committee are in the final stages of the planning for this year’s Portlaoise Parade with numerous floats entered and bands playing throughout the town. Ballyroan’s parade is at 10am on St Patrick's Day Monday, March 17, but a day before the villagers can enjoy the very first Mick Murray Memorial Road Run, in memory of a man who for many years took part in the parade. There was a huge crowd in attendance at the Portlaoise St Patrick’s Day parade. Portlaoise Musical Society and Dunamaise Arts Centre were joint Grand Marshalls of the event. This was a big honour as they both celebrate their 25th anniversaries in 2024. Portlaoise will be packed with St Patrick’s Day activities that all the family can enjoy. Portlaoise parade starts at 12.30pm with a large number of floats and clubs expected to take part.
